The Victims of Communism Memorial was dedicated on June 12, 2007. Vietnamese dissident poet Nguyen Chi Thien was present to discuss the conditions of his imprisonment for 27 years in the Communist gulag. The Freedom Heritage flag of the Republic of Vietnam is in prominent position. President Bush also addressed the gathering.
