poster announcing the demonstration by Vietnamese Australians on September 9, 2007 to coincide with the APEC 2007 Summit in Sydney.  Image is of the trial of  Father Nguyen Van Ly, who is a political prisoner in Vietnam

sentenced to eight years on March 30, 2007.  The image of Father Ly's trial in which a Communist goon is covering his mouth has become a symbol of Chong Cong, or Resistance, by Vietnamese in the worldwide diaspora that began in April 1975 with the Communist invasion of South Vietnam.  The NVA was supported with a large infusion of weapons from the Soviet Union and backup troops from China, whereas the United States did not honor a promise made of supplying money and supplies and cut off the South Vietnamese at the moment of Communist aggression.
