About the Translator

Khue Huynh, a member of the VNQDD as well as province councilman in the RVN, was originally a teacher and a military officer who won Campaign, Gallantry Cross with Gold Star, and Wound Medal. He graduated with a B.A. degree in political science with credits toward an M.P.A. degree in spite of age and war wounds. As an RNC Chairman’s Advisory Board member, he offered his confidential advice to senators on the immigration of the Vietnamese political prisoners’ children, which received a series of promotions from Senator John McCain.

Mr. Huynh is interested in studying political thought and contemporary democratic theory and admires his heroic predecessors’ political ideology of nationalism.

Bill Noyes' biography

    Bill (William Edward) Noyes, drafted Dec 67, trained until August of 68, Basic at Ft Lewis,WA, AIT at FT. Polk, LA (Tigerland), and then NCO school at FT. Benning, GA.  To Vietnam Sept. 20th 1968 and assigned to the 25th div (Cu Chi), B company 2nd battalion of the 22nd infantry regiment (mechanized), third platoon until Sept ? ( 6th about) 1969 when I DEROSed and left active service to attend San Jose State College (now U.).  While at SJS I took a photo class and also the photojournalism class while majoring in Philosophy, and finally finishing in 1979 with a BA in that.

While in VN I pursued my new photo-hobby, using primarily a Yashica 35mm camera, though also a Tesina 35 half frame which proved very inefficient.  I also audio taped several hours of various events from songs by coke-kids to GI chatter and firefights and battles.  I wish I'd have taken many more pictures and taped many more things than what I did, but now have about 1500 pictures and the 5 or 6 hours of tapes, some of which will be published in the book I am writing.  Most of my war-work was done north of Saigon, between Tay Ninh, DauTieng (Michelin plantation) and Duc Hoa and Cu Chi.  I was awarded the usual medals, Combat Infantry Badge, etc. and also a silver star and a bronze star (Meritorious).  Am currently a member of the 25th Div Association, 22nd Regt. Asso., VN Tripple Duece, VFW.
